Story of a Bedouin Who Made Nabi ﷺ Laugh

Question:
I heard this one story of Nabi ﷺ speaking about Jannah and then a Bedouin told a joke and made him laugh. Can you verify this for me?
Answer:
This is an authentic ḥadīth in Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī (2348):
Abū Hurayrah رضي الله عنه reports:
“The Prophet ﷺ was one day speaking while a man from the desert (a Bedouin) was present. He mentioned that a man from the people of Paradise would ask his Lord for permission to plant crops. Allah would say to him: “Are you not already in whatever you wish?” He would reply: “Yes, but I love to plant.” So he would sow seeds, and in the blink of an eye they would grow, ripen, and be harvested, becoming like great mountains. Allah would then say: “Here you go, O son of Adam, for nothing will ever satisfy you.”
The Bedouin said: “By Allah, you will not find him except to be a Qurashī or an Anṣārī, for they are people of cultivation, whereas we are not people of cultivation.” The Prophet ﷺ laughed.”
Mullā ʿAlī al-Qārī explains that the Prophet ﷺ laughed either at the cleverness of the Bedouin or at the delightful way the man of Paradise posed his request and gave his reply.

:أخرجه الإمام البخاري رحمه الله تعالى في صحيحه في كتاب الحرث والمزارعة (2348)
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سِنَانٍ: حَدَّثَنَا فُلَيْحٌ: حَدَّثَنَا هِلَالٌ - وَحَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ: حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَامِرٍ: حَدَّثَنَا فُلَيْحٌ، عَنْ هِلَالِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ:
أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يَوْمًا يُحَدِّثُ، وَعِنْدَهُ رَجُلٌ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْبَادِيَةِ: أَنَّ رَجُلًا مِنْ أَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ اسْتَأْذَنَ رَبَّهُ فِي الزَّرْعِ، فَقَالَ لَهُ: أَلَسْتَ فِيمَا شِئْتَ؟ قَالَ: بَلَى، وَلَكِنِّي أُحِبُّ أَنْ أَزْرَعَ، قَالَ: فَبَذَرَ، فَبَادَرَ الطَّرْفَ نَبَاتُهُ وَاسْتِوَاؤُهُ وَاسْتِحْصَادُهُ، فَكَانَ أَمْثَالَ الْجِبَالِ، فَيَقُولُ اللهُ: دُونَكَ يَا ابْنَ آدَمَ، فَإِنَّهُ لَا يُشْبِعُكَ شَيْءٌ. فَقَالَ الْأَعْرَابِيُّ: وَاللهِ لَا تَجِدُهُ إِلَّا قُرَشِيًّا أَوْ أَنْصَارِيًّا، فَإِنَّهُمْ أَصْحَابُ زَرْعٍ، وَأَمَّا نَحْنُ فَلَسْنَا بِأَصْحَابِ زَرْعٍ، فَضَحِكَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ
قال الشيخ علي القاري رحمه الله تعالى في المرقاة (10/319):
وأما (نحن) أي معاشر أهل البادية (فلسنا بأصحاب الزرع) أي فلا نشتهي مثل ذلك (فضحك رسول الله - صلى الله تعالى عليه وسلم) أي من فطانة البدوي، أو من مسألة الجنتي([1]) وجوابه البديعي.
